The Brownrigg Agriculture family business started growing squash in 1988 and has become one of the largest growers in New Zealand, planting approximately 1,600ha to produce over 22,000mt annually. Our squash programme succeeds through innovation, commitment and passion - with an absolute focus on long-keeping quality squash. Extensive research and development and a hands-on approach to our monitoring and management systems are key to our success.
BA produces predominantly Delica, a proven performer that consistently delivers quality and flavour, and the popular dry types Ajihei amd T133. We plant on the East Coast of the North Island of NZ, where we experience ideal growing conditions.
We take pride in the careful management of food safety, soil health and our environment. With our investment in the latest technologies, monitoring systems and transport processes we produce a healthy crop that is harvested at the correct time to ensure the shelf-life of the product.
BA owns a dedicated packhouse - a premium quality facility - where we receive, grade and pack for export before shipping to the market via the nearby Port of Napier.
EXTRA NEWS:
For Korean consumers, the New Zealand Buttercup Squash Council has created a Korean language website - click on image below. It provides health and nutrition information, details on instore promotions and recipes from a dedicated danhobak restaurant!
Our systems provide complete traceability of product through to the marketplace. Control of our supply chain, close proximity to the wharf and our regular international shipping schedule ensures that BA squash is exported in optimum condition, to maximise freshness and flavour to the end consumer.
All our systems have MAF Biosecurity New Zealand approval and undergo stringent audits and inspections throughout the season by AsureQuality NZ, the Government-approved quality control agency.
